
Many companies appear to have a strategy of making you buy their product and then getting rid of you as soon as they can. That might explain why you can’t reach a human when you call customer services or why, when you finally talk to someone, they seem to be following a script.
Their model is based on volume. They get so many people through the door that it’s easier and cheaper to get rid of you when things go wrong.
It’s a model for making money; it’s not about caring and doing work that you can feel proud of.
It’s possible to make money and do work that matters,. The only thing you need to ask yourself is how you would like to be treated if you were a customer of your own company.
Getting people through the door is going to get more and more expensive. Are you ready to care?
