Focusing on the now

Business, growth
Many times, we struggle in our business because we think that we are missing business opportunities. We look around and we see similar companies having bigger clients, nicer offices, more staff. We feel that we are doing something wrong, that we are not selling our product well enough or providing better services. We dream about having all the systems in place, all the likes, all the followers on social media, all the important clients and the bigger office but while dreaming we are not seeing what we really have. What difference are you making to your clients right now? How can you amplify it? What is the value that you are delivering? Can you make it even bigger? Why your tiny email list stick to you?  Why customers…

Delivering your story

Delivering your story

Business, Storytelling
When you start a business you are going to spend an awful amount of time trying to make it work, so you better do something that you really love.   As Mark Zuckerber  said;  “You decided you want to start a company, but you don't know what you are passionate about yet ... you need to do stuff you're passionate about. The companies that work are the ones that people really care about and have a vision for the world so do something you like.” When we start something that we care about and we put at the centre of our business it is a lot more likely that people will understand who we are. It really helps to get more people on board and help our business grow.…

Where is your business heading to?

Where is your business heading to?

Business, growth
Your sales are going fine, sales pipeline looks pretty good and you still have a gut feeling that something is missing. Many people grow businesses just selling stuff, but being proud of what you do and knowing what difference your products and services are making is a totally different story. People are not just interested in products or services that solve a problem, they want something that help that problem and make sense in their lives. Something that talks about their values, their identity and the story that they tell to themselves everyday. People buy things for different reason but fall in love with your product or service just for only one - because they feel that what you offer tells the story of what they are proud…

How would it be if?

How would it be if?

Business
How would it be if? This is one of the most important questions a business owner and associates have to ask themselves when starting up a business and when it is ongoing. The power of this question allows us to go beyond what is possible. It gives us permission to find out what we really want from our business. How would it be if I’m not scared, if I had the money, if I’m even capable of doing more than I can think, if myself and others would not judge me, if nobody is looking, if I am really great at what I do. What set us apart in not what we achieve, but what we overcome. When thinking about a new product, a new service, a new project, this…

Defining your unique story can be your best ever marketing decision

Defining your unique story can be your best ever marketing decision

Marketing
For many, business marketing is just a matter of finding a catchy message and starting working with it on different social media platforms. Many of these messages talk about what the business does, how amazing it is, or how it offers the best price, however, none of these strategies are appealing enough in the long run. For certain types of products, price matters, but we always run the risk of someone else coming and disrupting our business with a cheaper price, more amazingness or a better description of the product/service. So then what? The answer is find your unique story. Your unique story defines why you are in business, what you bring, who you are, and most of all why you are unique, why your customers love you and why…

Building your brand with care

Building your brand with care

Storytelling
Sometimes, there can be such a strong focus on creating an amazing message to engage with your audience, it is easy to forget that the people and businesses you work with are the first ones to talk about your brand. A good story is always about something bigger than ourselves

A good story is always about something bigger than ourselves

Storytelling
Lilla Watson is an Aboriginal elder, activist and educator from Queensland, Australia, who framed a sentence that inspired many people at the international human rights movement: “If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” She later said regarding this sentence that she was not comfortable being credited for something that came out of a collective process, so the sentence should be credited to ‘Aboriginal activists group, Queensland’. That says a lot about her commitment to the story. It also speaks volumes about the power behind the story and the woman who was credited for it. Today, this is still a very powerful statement because it talks about people…

In business, as in life, we are big and small at the same time

In business, as in life, we are big and small at the same time

Business
In my desk I always have The pocket Pema Chödrön (a Buddhist nun and teacher). One of my favorite stories is “Being big and being small at the same time”. She recalls her own experience of being invited to an important event in which she was sometimes treated as an important teacher, and other times as just one member of the group. When she addressed her confusion to the person organising the event she was told, “Well, you have to learn to be big and small at the same time”. I always look for that quality in people. Do they behave the same when they are up as when they are down in the mud? Do they treat people the same irrespective of their ranking, title or the interest they have in…
